Dracula & Castles tour! Our team has prepared a one day tour for those interested in historical sites and legends!
We have prepared for you a day in which we’ll visit some of the most famous Romanian Castles – Peles Castle, the formal royal residence and Bran Castle, well known for its Dracula stories Castle – and we’ll also have a lunch stop at Cantacuzino Castle. In the same day, we will have a detour to Brasov city.
Point of departure: Bucharest (or city of arrival)
Our first destination is Sinaia, a mountain resort also called “The Pearl of the Carpathians”. Here we will visit the Peles Castle, a masterpiece of German Renaissance architecture. Being a symbol of the Romanian culture, great art collections are exposed inside its walls.
After that we will have a moment of solitude and peace at Sinaia Monastery.
On our way on Prahova Valley we will be visiting Cantacuzino Castle from Busteni. The Castle was built in Neo-Romanian style in early 1900s.
Following our map, we will then head towards Transylvania to find more about the Bran Castle and the legend it holds.
Transylvania is an unique region of Romania, its historical, ethnic and cultural characteristics making it different from the others. For centuries Transylvania has been inhabited by Romanians, Hungarians, Saxons and Szeklers. These ethnic groups have created over the centuries a special land worth visiting.
Bran Castle is one of the most famous Romanian castles, also known as Dracula’s Castle, mostly because of Stoker’s story. The legend about Dracula is based on the life of Vlad Tepes/Vlad the Impaler (1431-1476), a ruler revered by Romanians for standing up to the Ottoman Empire. The castle used to be a royal residence.
The remaining hours of our day will allow us to visit Brasov, also known as “Transylvanian Gate” or the “Heart of Transylvania”. There we can see the Black Church – the biggest gothic religious monument in Eastern Europe -, we’ll walk on the String Street- the narrowest street in Europe, from where the Brasov, “Hollywood-like” sign, can be seen on Tampa Mountain – and check The City Hall, Orthodox Cathedral. You will get an idea of what a typical old Transylvanian city looked like but also enjoy the modern places on the streets of the “The Old Town”.
