Learn more about Romanian tradition in this unique Easter tour to Bucovina, the place where you can follow ancient rythhms of tradition, culture and celebration.
This tour will last for four days in which you’ll be overwhelmed by all the experiences you’ll live.
Point of departure: Bucharest
The first day of our tour will be a journey towards the land of Bucovina with plenty of stops along the way.
The first one will be Brasov for lunch. Brasov is also known as the “Transylvanian Gate” or the “Heart of Transylvania”. Here we can marvel at the Black Church – the biggest gothic religious monument in Eastern Europe -, walk down the String Street- the narrowest street in Europe- and catch a glance at the “Brasov, Hollywood-like sign” on Tampa Mountain , and also The City Hall, Orthodox Cathedral. You will get an idea on how a typical old Transylvanian city looked like, but also enjoy the modern streets of the “The Old Town”. Here the group will choose what kind of lunch it prefers – a traditional or international one.
Leaving Brasov, the road to Piatra Neamt will guide us through Bicaz Canyon, the gorge twisting and turning steeply uphill for 5km, cutting through sheer, 300m-high, limestone rocks. This scenic drive is spectacular, with cliffs rising literally from the edges of the road. We will also pass the Hell Neck, one of the most original, spectacular and at the same time frightening natural wonders of Harghita County and across the country. We will make stops for those who want souvenirs, yet we suggest the best ones would be pictures of the breathtaking landscapes.
Once in Piatra Neamt, we will take some time to enjoy the natural beauty of the area and also we”ll see some of the city’s historical buildings. Yet, the visit would be short as we will need to head towards our final destination of Campulung Moldovenesc. We will be welcomed by local hosts with traditional drinks and a delicious home made „colac”. In the meantime, dinner would be prepared out of fresh, local products and served before heading to our rooms for a good nights sleep.
Starting with a rich breakfast, the 2nd day awaits us with a challenge! You are all invited to participate at the old tradition of Egg Painting. According to some legends, the eggs are coloured mostly in red, simbolising the blood of Christ.
In the evening we will have a special dinner followed by a trip to the local church for the mid’night Ressurection Celebration where we can follow the traditional customs or have a moment of solitude. We will then return to the hotel where the hosts will await us with Easter treats. And, of course, colored eggs for the „Egg tapping” Easter tradition game.
The schedule of the day will be determined by each person. You can either relax in the jacuzzi or sauna or you can check out the touristic attractions. We just want to remind you that we will be in „the land of the beech trees”, a land full of history and amazing landscapes. The main sights are the churches and monasteries, known around the world for their exterior paintings of bright and intense colours and Moldavian architecture.
We will get together in the evening for a lovely dinner in the company of a live band. Keeping the night young we will continue with karaoke.
After a good nights sleep, we’ll meet again for breakfast and slowly prepare for our way back to Bucharest.
