Are you ready for a special Easter Holiday? The following tour is addressed to all of you who are looking for special, deep experiences and, why not, to all of you that are in love with beauty and history. We extend an invitation to Romania, where old traditions survived and where the soul is at peace!
This four days tour is filled with authentic experiences, sending you back in time with every step you take on the Transylvanian land. You will discover parts of legends and old traditions of our picturesque country, while enjoying the well preserved buildings surrounded by unimaginable landscapes.
Point of departure: Bucharest
Leaving Bucharest and the Wallachia region behind us, we will change the plane land for the tall mountains, where the light falls from the peaks leaving trails of marvelous colours. Before we know it, we will have reached the magic land of Transylvania and its fairy-tale cities.
The road takes us first to Bran Castle, or Dracula’s Castle as you may have read in Stoker’s stories. Once a royal residence of Vlad the Impaler (1431-1476), a ruler revered by Romanians for standing up to the Ottoman Empire, the castle is surrounded by a mysterious air that takes you inside the legend and beyond.
We will then head towards Brasov, also known as “Transylvanian Gate” or the “Heart of Transylvania”. Here we can marvel at the Black Church – the biggest gothic religious monument in Eastern Europe -, walk down the String Street- the narrowest street in Europe- and catch a glance at the “Brasov, Hollywood-like sign” on Tampa Mountain , and also The City Hall, Orthodox Cathedral. You will get an idea on how a typical old Transylvanian city looked like, but also enjoy the modern streets of the “The Old Town”.
And no better place to end the day than the medieval city of Sighisoara, where we will be welcomed with a traditional dinner and the rooms prepared for a good nights sleep.
Accommodation in a 3-4* hotel.
After an early breakfast, we will start exploring Sighisoara, a citadel which dates back to the 14th century and still remains inhabited nowadays. We will walk through the old hilly streets, alongside The Citadel Walls to the Clock Tower and, for the brave ones, up the Scholars’ Stairs to the Church on the Hill. In case you are determined and want to discover more of the cobbled alleys, the Venetian Home and Vlad Dracul’s Home have their doors opened for those who want to be impressed. And who better to guide us back in time than the citadel’s drummer and the guard of honor?
The day is long and full of wonders, so we will hop in the car and drive to Sibiu, an European Capital of Culture and a city that holds the best perserved historical sites in the country. We will take a walking tour visiting The Tour Council, The Bridge of Lies, Brukenthal National Museum and enjoy a well deserved lunch at a resturant at choice in the Old Square.
Back in Sighisoara, dinner will be served to the sound of violins. We will have few hours of relaxation until the mid’night Ressurection Celebration when we will go to the local church, light a candle according to the tradition and return to the hotel for „Easter treats” and painted eggs.
After two days of wonders, legends, castles and cobbled streets, we saved this day for relaxation and leisure time. A day in which you can enjoy the medieval air of Sighisoara at free will, go to the SPA or meet the locals. We will see each other at a special location for the traditional Easter Brunch, and, of course, in the evening, for the festive dinner when we will share opinions, views and thoughts.
A new day begins with an early breakfast and the road to Bucharest will leave behind beautiful landscapes that, we believe, you will want to see once more!
