When visiting Romania during the summer, we advise you to take a one day tour towards the Black Sea. Why? Except for the beautiful beaches where you can enjoy the welcoming sun and refreshing water for few hours, you can also engage even more with the country’s culture and history.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Bucharest.
The quickest route to Constanta is via highway (A2) yet, in order to make it more interesting, we will take a detour towards Calarasi. We’ll cross the Danube at Silistra where, just a couple of km away, we will stop at Ostrov winery, a lovely place where we can have lunch and taste some great Romanian wines, depending on the groups preferences. From there we will follow the road towards Adamclisi, a Dacian village colonised by the Romans, yet due to its location, the castrum they have build there had also been occupied by Goths and Ottomans. Here comes the time for the group to decide if we should head straight for Constanta or take another small detour to visit Saint Andrew Cave Monastery, St Andrew being considered the protector of Romania.
Once we reach Constanta, we will take a short, but comprehensive walking tour. Considered the capital of Dobrogea region, Constanta was founded around 600 BC which makes it the oldest documened city of Romania. It is also a port city, and not only the biggest on the Black Sea shores but also the 4th in Europe. During the walking tour, we will be visiting the following:
After our short walking tour depending on the weather we can either go towards the north pier enjoy a panoramic offshore view or we can spend some time enjoying the sun in Mamaia Resort.
With the batteries recharged we’ll drive back towards Bucharest, checking a last objective, Capidava, an ancient territory that has been enriched with history since the dark ages.
