In a city as diverse as Bucharest, where the sights tempt you to wander through history, your energy is consumed every time you jump from the Belle Epoque to the period between wars, communism and into the present days. In wanting to see and learn as much as possible, the importance of a break is not to be ignored. And for this reason, we put together a list with some of the coolest places in Bucharest that can make your day even better than you imagined.
A good day starts with a positive attitude and a great cup of coffee. Near Cismigiu Gardens you can find a cozy place where you can enjoy a quiet breakfast. “The Coffee Factory” holds flavors of the best coffees in the world and will definitely give you a nice kickoff to a great day!
During your walk, you can also stop at “Atelier Pinion”. Here you can either get your bike fixed in case you are traveling on two wheels, or you can grab a snack and a fruit juice to recharge your batteries. In some cases, even both at the same time while taking a break from the swarming “Piata Romana”.
For an authentic dinner we recommend “Lacrimi si Sfinti” restaurant, a place that proudly presents Romanian gastronomic culture. 100 years old recipes are reinterpreted and replaced, lost flavors, invented flavors, all in one place at the entrance in the Old Town.
And which better way to end a full day than with your favorite dessert? A short walk on the Old City’s streets will take you from the restaurant straight to “Emilia Cremerie”, a place that you will want to revisit after trying their elaborate deserts and ice creams.
The day is almost over meaning the night is young! You take out your notebook and check the boxes for Cultural Tour and Communism Tour, Green City, coffee in the sun, traditional meals and deserts. But you still need to add one more thing to the list. Party!
And you don’t need to go very far! Also in the Old City, we invite you to “Nomad Skybar” (cover photo). Located in the heart of Bucharest’s nightlife, two floors above the area’s anarchic madness, Nomad has just the sky above it, in all its variety of forms and colors.
These look great – so cosy for a dark winter evening.
