Not yet summer but still warm enough to get the fun and games started. This year a wave of concerts and other events come rushing over Romania. From rock concerts, classical music festivals, film festivals, sports events and why not nerd conventions.
We warm up this spring with some sports. After Romania’s Simona Halep takes home the Indian Wells trophy, it’s time for the guys to show off in a tournament right here in garden of the Carpathians. The tournament bears the name of none other than Ion Tiriac and Ilie Nastase, two great tennis men of the 70’s, who were friends and rivals at the same time. The tournament last from the 18th to the 26th of April and it will take place at the BNR Arenas, where every game, set and match can be enjoyed. During breaks you can relax in the park of Tennis Village where you can find entertainment areas, snack bars, cafés, tennis corners, you can meet the players and participate in autograph sessions.
We move on to the next event on the time line, this time an event on the more virtual side, the Romanian Digital Travel Conference, where digital travel entrepreneurs shall discuss the newest trends in tourism, marketing, hospitality and services. This year the is the second edition and the event focuses on learning from other’s mistakes and experience, a number of digital and marketing experts being present to teach you about some digital tools that are free, and that can increase your profit. The event takes place on the 3rd of April at the Intercontinental Hotel Bucharest.
At the end of April another event starts, this time in the mysterious lands of Transylvania, where vampire stories were inspired and where horror movie sets were imagined. On the 29th of April is the start of Transylvanian International Film Festival, taking place in Cluj Napoca, a beautiful city that for 2015 it will be European Youth Capital. The month of June is for music. From the 5th to the 15th of June we will be delighted by sweet classical music played by Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra. Rieu is consider today the most successful violinist in history, playing not only classical music but also modern movie soundtracks and musicals. He is the owner of the biggest and most complete orchestra, and is a huge admirer of Johann Strauss music. He will play in Bucharest in the Constitution square .
Many more music and cultural festivals will take place in the next few months, of which let’s not forget the nerd conventions like Eastern European Comic Con and Otaku festival, both events taking place at the same time and really close to each other , on the 8th to 10th of May at the Romexpo and Romanian-American University.
